Job Description: 
Buyer needed for contract position hired to work under technical direction, policies, and procedures in Plaquemine, LA.

The Buyer coordinates and facilitates ordering, receiving, storing, and issuing materials according to Client’s project schedules and execution plans.

The ideal Buyer will:
• Perform work activities efficiently while continuously looking for cost-saving opportunities.
• Purchase and expedite delivery of raw materials, equipment, supplies, spare parts, and services in order to maintain continuous plant operations.
• Negotiate contracts and/or purchase agreements for raw materials, spare parts, supplies, services and equipment for new projects under the direction of management.
• Communicate with all departments in order to fill their purchasing needs and to inform them of order status.
• Participate in supplier audits.
• Review invoices to verify tax credit, correct terms, price and quantity.
• Audit all purchase orders and requisitions for clear, correct, specific information.
• Compile, store, and retrieve purchasing records.
• Assist in special projects and other duties as assigned.
• Maintain safety responsibilities.
• Maintain the following quality responsibilities:
o Maintain approved supplier list.
o Order raw materials and packaging supplies based on compliance with specifications from approved suppliers.
o Monitor supplier performance.
o Investigate and report quality incidents and take appropriate corrective/preventive action.
o Meet with suppliers to encourage quality at the best possible cost.
o Strive to keep up with industry advances, new products, new ideas, and ways of doing business.
Desired Skills: 
• Safety Champion – portrays a personal example of excellent safety, performance, mindset, and commitment.
• Must be a high school graduate or have a GED certificate.
• Five (5) or more years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or related field.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work under deadline pressure.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports and documents.
• Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to work with others at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
