Chemical Plant in Geismar, La looking for a Fixed Equipment Engineer
• Duration: 1 year or longer with potential to go direct

The Fixed Equipment Engineer is a contract position hired to work under client’s technical direction, policies, and procedures and will support the Pressure Equipment Group.

• Provide fixed equipment engineering services throughout the site including piping systems, pressure vessels (all types including towers, reactors, heat exchangers etc.) and atmospheric storage tanks.
• Provide engineering support for Maintenance or Project Engineering or Production/Operations.
• Provide technical knowledge and expertise and ensure compliance with all applicable inspection and repair codes.
• Review inspection reports/findings and provide recommendations/path forward as appropriate including any additional inspection activities that may need to be completed.
• Provide alteration and/or repair recommendations and plans for fixed equipment based on inspection findings, improvement recommendations, etc.
• Facilitate engineering work for fixed equipment repairs or alterations both on-site and off-site including scope development, shop surveillance, development of inspection plans and hold points, etc.
• Provide recommendations for inspection type and/or frequency changes based on inspection history, current inspection findings, change in service conditions, changes in corrosion rates/mechanisms, remaining life, etc.
• Complete fitness-for-service evaluations/calculations based on inspection findings and equipment operating conditions and provide recommendations to Maintenance and Operations.
• Participate in audits of plant Mechanical Integrity program including RBI revalidations.
• Provide troubleshooting support and recommendations to operating units on equipment reliability including emergency work reviews.
• Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis and execute corrective actions for complex and/or repetitive problems.
• Support the reliability processes to drive improvements, optimize costs, and improve asset effectiveness.
• Evaluate new technologies and alternatives for equipment repair seeking cost and delivery advantages.
• Support capital projects by supplying engineering expertise in the specification, design, and construction of projects in accordance with plant design requirements, client’s standards, and regulatory requirements.
Desired Skills: 
The ideal Fixed Equipment Engineer will have:

• BS Degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in fixed equipment (piping, pressure vessels, atmospheric storage tanks) engineering, maintenance, inspection, reliability and/or projects.
• General knowledge of SAP (preferred).
• API 510, 570, and/or 653 certification (preferred).
• Strong working knowledge of PSM Mechanical Integrity requirements.
• Broad based, hands on knowledge, and experience with all categories of fixed equipment.
• Must possess a solid understanding of maintenance work processes.
• Strong background in all applicable fixed equipment codes and standards including (but not limited to) API 510, API 570, API 650/653, API RP 579, API RP 580/581, ASME Sec II, Sec V, Sec VIII, Sec IX, B31.1, B31.3, B16.5, and OSHA CFR 1910.119.
• Extensive knowledge and experience in interpreting inspection reports, data collection, analysis, and corrective action recommendations.
• General working knowledge of routine and advanced/specialized inspection techniques such as UT, MT, PT, VT, B-scan, C-scan, UT shear wave, Guided Wave technology, digital and computerized radiography, etc.
• Ability to evaluate the need for additional types of inspection or testing and provide recommendations as appropriate.
• Knowledgeable in repair techniques and procedures for stationary equipment and piping systems.
• Broad knowledge of corrosion mechanisms and analysis techniques.
• Knowledgeable in basic materials of construction, including carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel-based alloys, linings, claddings, non-metallic materials, etc.
• Experience in root cause failure analysis specifically in regard to stationary equipment.
