Staff Reliability Engineer needed in Houston, TX

The Staff Reliability Engineer coordinates the evaluation and implementation of strategic reliability improvements which support improved reliability and optimized total cost of ownership. Position interacts with other technical groups on site (process engineering, maintenance, and capital project groups), corporate technical networks and peers, and vendors/suppliers as needed to resolve problems and improve plant reliability and performance.

The Staff Reliability Engineer will:

• Perform work activities efficiently while continuously looking for cost-saving opportunities.
• Conduct root cause investigations of mechanical equipment failures.
• Develop and implement Equipment Maintenance Strategies.
• Participate in FMEA studies.
• Establish equipment benchmarking and metrics to improve tracking of equipment reliability.
• Drive reliability engineering principles and best practices.
• Drive Highly Reliable Organizations techniques.
• Analyze reliability and maintenance data to identify opportunities.
• Participate in self audits of key reliability management systems.
• Participate in Reliability Improvement Teams.
• Provide in-depth analysis of reliability, MOWP, and Solomon data.
• Provide technical support to both operations and maintenance on piping and stationary equipment.
Desired Skills: 
The ideal Staff Reliability Engineer will have:

• B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of work experience in the refining/petrochemical industry required.
• Experience with applying reliability methodologies/technologies (i.e., RCM, RCFA, FMEA, Weibull, Six Sigma, etc.).
• Working knowledge of stationary equipment fabrication standards (ASME), inspection codes (API, NBIC), and recommended practices is a plus.
• Must have strong commitment to safety Safety, Health, & Environmental Duties and Expectations.
• Demonstrate the belief that accidents are preventable by including safety in assigned work activities.
• Create and share personal safety plan with work group. • Participate in safety meetings.
• Demonstrate understanding of and verifies compliance with safety standards, work practices, work permit requirements, and various safety systems.
• Trained to safely access field areas to observe work being performed.
• Trained in use of standard PPE (hard hat, gloves, eye, and hearing protection).
