Job Description: 
Traffic Specialist for Direct Hire Role

We’re looking for a Traffic Specialist with logistics and transportation experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Solve transportation issues
• Maintain required records for all transportation activities
• Provide freight quotes to management on request
• Prepare documents such as shipment schedules, bills of lading or orders to route shipments
• Coordinate logistic activities with internal/external customers, carriers, Customer Service and Material Handling departments
• Enter shipment information into computer programs as required
• Review and record rail and truck freight invoices for accuracy and comparison to budget
• Assist in investigation and resolution of customer complaints

Management

• Schedule mobile repairs
• Coordinate railcar preventative maintenance and regulatory programs
• Coordinate shopping of cars and approve BRC estimates
• Assist with marine shipments and scheduling of marine dock
• Assist with railcar maintenance and shopping of railcars
• Be able to join a rotation for night and weekend call duty
• Other duties as assigned

• Maintain good housekeeping
• Enforce safety rules
• Report incidents and takes appropriate corrective action

Quality Responsibilities

• Investigate and report all quality incidents

Environmental Responsibilities

• Report environmental incidents and takes appropriate corrective actions

Cost Control Responsibilities

• Operates efficiently avoiding wasting manpower and supplies

Physical Demands

• Employee regular works in office environment
• Must be able to access the plant area, including climbing on or into railcars, as necessary
• Able to take weekend call and/or bill unit trains on weekends

Desired Skills: 
Skill/Experience Requirements

• College degree preferred
• 3-5 years’ experience in transportation field, specifically in rail/truck shipments
• Strong communication skills to coordinate support/resources for product delivery
• Experience in rail car components and repair, including overseeing repair progress
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft office is required
• Knowledge/experience in transportation/logistics
• Experience in an industrial traffic department
• Marine loading knowledge is a plus
