Unit Inspector – Port Arthur, TX

We need a Unit Inspector to support refinery projects. The Unit Inspector will be expected to:
• Ensure safety and reliability of refinery fixed equipment.
• Inspect or cause to be inspected all equipment and piping which is critical and/or subject to periodic deterioration.
• Make cost effective recommendations for repairs, materials selection and other remedial action in support of long-term reliability.
• Develop piping and fixed equipment inspection plans, in accordance with API 510, API570 and API 653, using risk-based methodology.
• Select cost effective inspection techniques to provide reliable assessment of refinery equipment remaining life.
• Interpret and evaluate inspection and NDE data
• Maintain complete and accurate records during inspections so they can be transferred to the permanent files.
• Participate in the planning of temporary repairs and approves the execution of such repairs.
• Develop and maintain fixed equipment inspection procedures/practices.
• Review design/fabrication drawings and performs fabrication shop/field inspection to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Provide technical support to production teams.
• Coordinate with Maintenance and Operations to see that equipment is opened in a logical and efficient manner and the inspection/repair report is available quickly for planning purposes.
• Monitor and facilitate the daily activities of outside inspection contractors during turnarounds and special activities.
• Inspect and monitor all repair and construction work to be certain it is being done per the plans and adheres to all specifications and codes required.
• Facilitate the activities and quality of contractors in the field.

Desired Skills: 
BACKGROUND:

The ideal Unit Inspector will have:
• API 510 and API 570 Certifications.
• Experience maintaining a Mechanical Integrity program at a refinery.
• The ability to conduct root cause analysis, troubleshoot and find solutions.
• 10+ years of experience doing API inspections.
• An active TWIC card.
