Electrical & Instrument Designer
needed to support design team by providing layout, detailed drawings, sketches, diagrams, etc.

The E&I Designer will be expected to:
• Provide technical assistance for construction commissioning/startup.
• Produce basic design engineering, IFA, and IFC packages.
• Provide quality checks of IFA packages.
• Conduct cross-checks between design disciplines.
• Verify instrument design work is performed in accordance with technical standards, methods, procedures, and practices.
• Provide project Electrical Design (FEL and detail) for small to medium sized turnaround, maintenance, and capital projects.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, construction personnel, and vendors to provide technical assistance, support, and guidance in solving problems and implementing improvements at the site as well as linked sites.
• Draw check-in and check-out to outside engineering firms.
• Provide technical assistance for commissioning/startup.
• Verify electrical design work is performed in accordance with national, state, and local regulations, technical standards, methods, procedures, and practices and industry regulations.
Desired Skills: 
The ideal Electrical & Instrument Designer will have:

• 3+ years of experience working design in petro-chemical industry.
• The ability to read and understand multiple discipline drawings including piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, structural, and architectural.
• The ability to comprehend rough sketches and specifications in order to update existing drawings as well as creating new drawings.
• The ability to stay on schedule in an open forum environment.
• Highly proficient with AutoCAD (orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) designs).
• Advanced knowledge of basic petrochemical industry engineering design standards.
• Proficient with Adobe Acrobat.
• Proficient in reading mechanical drawings, blueprints, isometrics, P&IDs, etc.
• High level of technical and scientific knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to practical problems.
• The ability to understand field changes and red-line drawings.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
• Intermediate skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• The willingness and ability to learn and take direction.
• Experience working with engineering, other professionals and SMEs to obtain input to recommendations.
• Experience participating in technical reviews of specifications, designs, codes, and other requirements.
