INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPER NEEDED FOR CHEMICAL PLANT IN THE GREATER NEW ORLEANS AREA
Estimated Duration: Six Months

We’re looking for a professional Instructional Developer to develop training materials for process operators – design training classes.


DESCRIPTION:

The Instructional Developer designs and develops instructor-led training in a chemical plant environment, works with subject matter experts to design and develop engaging learning that imparts new skills and builds worker proficiency on new plant equipment.

The Instructional Developer will be expected to:
• Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and knowledge transfer
• Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience training needs
• State instructional end goals and create content that matches them
• Utilize instructional graphics to make the final product appealing to learners and the process easy to visualize
• Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts
• Apply tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods (ADDIE)
• Develop exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
• Create supporting material/media where appropriate (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.)
• Develop knowledge assessments and field proficiency checks in order for learners to demonstrate new skills
• Maintain project documentation and organize training content
Desired Skills: 
The ideal Instructional Developer will have:

• BS or MA degree in instructional design, educational technology or 5+ year’s industry experience.
• Proven working experience in instructional design and with instructional technology.
• Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
• Lesson and curriculum planning skills.
• The ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts.
• Experience facilitating training (useful in pilot classes).
• E-learning development experience.
• Visual design skills (e.g., Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator) and ability to storyboard.
• Audio/visual content development experience.
• Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System.
• A Safety Champion mindset – portrays a personal example of excellent safety, performance, and commitment.
